This position assists with the development of educational training materials for internal and external audiences. In addition, the individual in this role will be responsible for conducting and coordinating these training sessions.


Educational and training materials may include but are not limited to physician and provider training materials, continuing education, regulatory updates and/or records. This role will also serve as an active liaison to one or multiple clients (depending on size, frequency of training, etc.) regarding educational needs.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development of education and training of physicians and providers for Accuity Healthcare and provides the clinical expertise to education programing for coding professionals and CDIs, which will include preparation of related educational materials and conducting frequent presentations either in-person or virtually
  • Assists with the orientation programs and online learning module assignments
  • Applies for continuing education credits (CMEs and CEUs) from third party vendors for educational training sessions
  • Maintains individual and client continuing education credit logs for Accuity
  • Collects and/or coordinates the collection of data, compiles reports and graphs, and presents findings and/or education plans at client meetings in conjunction with the Client Success team or the Director of Education
  • Works independently under general supervision and utilizes analytical and creative thinking skills to promote Accuity Healthcare’s philosophy and the department of education’s objectives to all education targets; Education targets include current and prospective Accuity Healthcare clients, as well as in-house team members, and the public in a national or regional conference settings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Education or senior administration, including assignments to allow growth and expansion of the department

Requirements

Education:

  • Medical school graduate (MD or DO) required

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above
  • Experience with electronic health records and health information systems as well as different encoders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS and APR-DRGs

Licensure and/or Credentials/Certifications:

  • CCDS or CDIP certification required
  • Health information management and/or coding credential from AHIMA and/or AAPC preferred (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, and/or CIC)
  • AHIMA ICD-10/PCS trainer certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be well versed in regulatory requirements for medical record documentation
  • Must have demonstrated education/training skills; creativity/knowledge of adult learning principles preferred
  • Must be able to function as part of a team, using effective interpersonal and instructional skills
  • Experience in a physician advisor role preferred
  • Professional executive presence required w/attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Including a proactive disposition towards identifying problems and providing solutions.
  • Knowledge of hospital/acute coding, billing, reimbursement, and third-party payer regulation
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Proven advanced skills in Microsoft Suite applications (particularly Teams, PowerPoint, MS Word)
  • Independent, focused individual able to work remotely or on-site
