Job Description

We are seeking a highly talented Senior Healthcare Equity Analyst - Biopharma focus to join our team. The role is based in our New York or Miami office, with hybrid work flexibility.


The role offers the right candidate a highly compelling environment to develop themselves as an investor, with a rare combination of high growth potential, firm stability backed by a high-quality capital base, intellectual freedom, and coverage flexibility.


The analyst will independently conduct due diligence on healthcare companies and proactively generate bottom-up investment ideas, primarily in public equity investments and selectively in private early-stage investments. The analyst will work closely and collaboratively with the CIO and our close-knit investment team.


The analyst may focus on therapeutics subsectors exclusivley (biotech and pharmaceuticals) or cover a broader range of healthcare subsectors beyond therapeutics over time (ie. life science tools & diagnostics, medical technology, digital health, and/or services), depending on their background, career growth interests, and the available opportunity set.


Key responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth due diligence and primary research on new and active healthcare investments
  • Make highly informed investment recommendations on companies, scientific advances, and industry trends
  • Analyze and interpret a wide range of information (including clinical and preclinical data, scientific literature, and diverse expert views) to form independent viewpoints
  • Build and maintain financial models
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with senior company management and industry experts
  • Attend industry and scientific conferences
  • Conduct KOL and physician checks
  • Author investment memos and present investment conclusions

Qualifications

  • Strong academic credentials and demonstrated successful analytical work experience
  • Strong scientific background, with an MD or PhD degree highly preferred.
  • Candidates without an MD or PhD will be considered if possess exceptionally strong educational background in science-based disciplines, healthcare investing and/or healthcare industry experience
  • Passion for investing
  • 2+ years of experience in sell-side / buy-side equity research, healthcare industry, consulting, investment banking, venture capital and/or private equity
  • Demonstrated financial modeling and valuation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to operate well both independently and as part of a team. Ability to interact well and network with senior company management
  • High degree of integrity and ethics
  • Ability to learn quickly
