Description

Erythema Annulare Centrifugum (EAC),

This is erythema annulare centrifugum (EAC), one of the “figurate erythemas.” These lesions show the classic trailing scale that lags behind the active edge of the annular plaques.

There are numerous reported associations, but one of the more curious is eating blue cheese, which this patient eats a lot of. We’re trying a trial of eliminating it from her diet + topical steroids.

Commonly mistaken for tinea. Classically has a rim of scale that trails the border of erythema. Most cases are idiopathic, but there are reported associations with infections, drugs, systemic disease, and malignancy. KOH will be negative.
