Associated Psychological / Behavioural Features

 • Feelings of shame, guilt and embarrassment tend to follow bingeing and purging episodes

 • Self-evaluation unduly influenced by body weight and shape

 • Secrecy surrounding eating

Dental Problems and Facial Features

 • Dental enamel erosion and gum disease from chronic exposure to gastric acid

 • Enlarged parotid glands (chipmunk-like cheeks) is an indication of chronic vomiting

Other

 • Symptoms related to complications, such as frequent urination (diabetes), constipation, amenorrhea,

Normal BMI 

 • or slightly overweight frequent fluctuations in weight

Russell's Sign

 • Sores, scars, calluses on knuckles or hands from repeatedly inducing vomiting
