Colorectal Cancer screening in ulcerative colitis per new UC guidelines

- Colonoscopy is the recommended method for screening 

- Screening and subsequent surveillance colonoscopy to assess for dysplasia in individuals with UC of extent greater than the rectum should start 8 years after diagnosis. 

- Repeat surveillance colonoscopies at l- to 3-year intervals 

- Patients with UC and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) should undergo a screening colonoscopy at the time of diagnosis of UC and surveillance annually thereafter.
