Prediabetes and Diabetes Diagnosis Criteria

There are a few methods to test if a patient has diabetes. The most common is an A1c, but other options include the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test, fasting plasma glucose, or random plasma glucose. Aside from the cutoffs for diabetes diagnosis, it is also important to know the cutoffs for prediabetes diagnosis. There are many patients who have prediabetes, and if they are diagnosed early, interventions can be made to prevent the progression to type 2 diabetes.
