This is an overview of the 3 main drug classes used to treat Hepatitis C



The new agents are grouped as Direct-Acting Antivirals, and consist of Protease inhibitors, NS5A, and NS5B inhibitors. Though drug name’s are complicated, there’s usually some reasoning behind it. For HCV we use different combinations of these drug classes, and some regimens are as short as 8 weeks! Guideline recommendations change frequently, but they’re easy to follow. Just check your patients genotype, treatment history, and cirrhosis status to see a list of recommended regimens.
