Posteromedial Papillary Muscle Rupture on Echo

Acute post-MI rupture of the posteromedial papillary muscle is 6-10 times more likely than of the anterolateral muscle.

- SWCardiacAnaes&Imaging @swcardiacanaes

Posteromedial papillary muscle has single blood supply from RCA while anterior papillary muscle typically has blood supply from diag and OM branches. So even in with LAD or LCX MI, anterior papillary muscle still gets some blood supply. - Eric Abrams, MD @eabramsMD
