Description

Central Retinal Artery Occlusion (CRAO)

Clinical:

 • Sudden, painless, complete loss of vision 

 • Pale retina 

 • Cherry red spot on fovea 

Management: 

 • Immediate ophthalmology consult 

 • Orbital massage to attempt clot dislodgment 

 • Reduction of IOP (acetazolamide, mannitol ('V)) 

 • Vasodilators (pentoxifylline, nitroglycerin, isosorbide)
