DANISH Mnemonic for Cerebellar Signs of Disease



D - Dysdiadochokinesia / Dysmetria - Impaired ability to perform rapid, alternating movements (hand pronation / supination, alternating finger movements); Impaired ability to control speed, distance and range of movement (overshooting / undershooting)

A - Ataxia - Gait and Limb (heel-shin) ataxia.

N - Nystagmus (horizontal) - Involuntary, rhythmic eye movements

I - Intention tremor - Tremor that worsens as a limb approaches a target during voluntary movement.

S - Slurred speech (Dysarthria)

H - Hypotonia - Floppy or decreased tone, decreased resistance to passive movement.
