Description

Meconium stained umbilical cord- This cord is about 7 hours old at the time of the photo, but the normal light yellow color is not visible, even though the cord is still plump. It is the presence of meconium in the amniotic fluid which gives it a dark green color. Although meconium staining has no direct effect on the infant, the presence of meconium is often associated with in utero stress. #clinical #photo #newborn #peds #pediatrics #meconium #stain #umbilical #cord
