Otoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to reshape ears for improved symmetry and proximity to the head, benefiting those with uneven ears. 



Surgeons reshape ear cartilage using techniques like Mustardé or Davis, or a combination, to achieve a natural look. Cartilage removed during otoplasty can also be used in rhinoplasty, making simultaneous procedures efficient. Recovery typically takes one to two weeks, with swelling subsiding gradually. Patients are advised to wear headbands post-surgery to maintain ear position. Scarring, usually behind the ear, varies by individual, with keloid formation possible but treatable. While risks like bruising and hematoma exist, they're rare. 



Otoplasty results are permanent, though early suture loosening might require revision. Importantly, otoplasty doesn't improve hearing, as it only alters the outer ear, not the hearing apparatus. #ear #otoplasty
