Carotid Blowout Syndrome (CBS) is a rare, potentially fatal complication of head and neck cancer, characterized by the rupture of the carotid artery. It typically occurs in patients who have undergone surgery or radiotherapy for head and neck cancer, or in those reirradiated for a recurrent or second tumor. CBS can result from wound breakdown, infection, or direct tumor invasion of the arterial wall.
