1 Minute Neuro Hand Examination - "Check your Six" Mnemonic



A simple way to test the peripheral nerve function of the hand.  Ask your patient to give you:



1) A 3 finger boy scout salute (three finger salute- median/ulnar)

2) OK sign (anterior interosseous)

3, 4, 5) then play "Rock (median), Paper (radial), Scissors (Ulnar)"

6) Sign off with a Thumbs up (radial)
