Focal Hand Neuromyotonia 



Focal neuromyotonia in SLE.  A 42 year old with a 10 year history of Systemic lupus erythematosus with painful spasms of her left 4th and 5th fingers for 2 weeks. 

EMG showed Neuromyotonia restricted to the left 4th lumbrical and abductor digiti Quintii muscles. Focal neuromyotonia [isolated finger flexion] secondary to SLE was diagnosed. She was started on carbamazepine 200mg tid and was asymptomatic in 7 days
