The Bulge Sign in Knee Effusion



Highly specific sign for knee joint effusion. 

 - Stroke the knee from the medial aspect of the joint (“milking”) to reduce fluid.

 - Apply pressure on the lateral side and observe for a “bulge” on medial side.
