Conjunctival Pallor - Anemia on Physical Exam



The presence of conjunctival anterior rim pallor has a positive likelihood ratio of 4.49 to 16.7 for the presence of anemia (Hgb <9.0 g/dL)

In normal conjunctiva there will be full redness of the anterior run (arrow)

In pale conjunctiva the color of anterior and posterior rim will appear the same
