Interpreting Right Heart Catheterizations



Always interpret a RHC based on the indication for getting the test. This is an interpretation for suspicion of pulmonary hypertension

1. Does the patient have pulmonary hypertension? (PA mean > 20 mmHg_

2. What is the hemodynamic profile? (Pre-capillary, Post-capillary, Combined)

3. What is the cardiac output?

4. How severe is the pulmonary hypertension?

5. What are the filling pressures?

6. Are the readings accurate?

7. Were any maneuvers performed?
