Dacrocytes (tear drop cells) 

Other poikilocytes resemble a pear or teardrop. The narrow, tapered end

may be long or short.  A dacrocyte is seen in each of the above photos.

Dacrocytes are found in myelofibrosis, myeloid metaplasia, pernicious anemia, thalassemia, and some hemolytic anemias.
