Sternal Intraosseous (IO) Access Placement

I recently posted about the EZ-IO drill and mentioned sternal placement options (not with the drill).

I also advised NOT to attempt live demonstrations... leave it up to the Marines. Well, here's a video placement of the FAST1 hand held sternal IO placement and securing system. Another version is the TALON.

NOT approved for pediatrics.

NOTE: can still draw blood for labs and give same medications/fluids in this site as per a peripheral IO.
