Yergason's Test on Physical Exam

Yergason's test for biceps tendon pathology testing stability of the tendon within the groove and if transverse humeral ligament is intact. Resisted ER, supination, elbow flexion elicits symptoms in the groove indicating biceps tendon pathology and/or SLAP tear.

1) Palpate the bicipital groove

2) Arm at 90 degrees and tight to the abdomen

3) Resist external rotation and supination

Clicking/popping/pain is +test for biceps tendon pathology. Can also be +SLAP pathology.
