Herpes Zoster Treatment
Acyclovir x 7-14 days
 - Age > 50
 - Severe rash or pain
 - Immunocompromised Patients
Benefits (if started within 72 hours):
 - Decreased duration of viral shedding
 - Decreased new lesion formation
 - Decreased duration of acute pain
 - Decreased incidence of keratitis and uveitis
Note: No impact of acyclovir on incidence of Post-Herpetic Neuralgia
Ocular:
 - Refer to Ophthalmologist with ocular involvement.
 - Lubrication, topical steroids or antibiotics
