Potassium Electrolyte Repletion

If patient also has hypomagnesemia, replete magnesium before repleting potassium

Oral:

 • Pills (ask pharmacy to give in 10 mEq pills because the pills are otherwise really big)

 • Solution (tastes bad)

Intravenous (can cause burning sensation):

 • Peripheral (can give up to 10 mEq/hr)

 • Central (can give up to 20 mEq/hr)
