Epiploic Appendagitis

Epiploic appendages = Small fat-filled pouches of visceral peritoneum that hang from teniae coli

 • Ischemic infarction of epiploic appendage due to torsion or spontaneous thrombosis of appendage central draining vein.

 • 2-7% of patients diagnosed with "diverticulitis" actually have appendagitis

 • Usually afebrile, LLQ pain, labs may have leukocytosis or may be normal

 • Self-limited, NSAIDs, no need for Abx
