RPR - False Positives

Causes of a false positive RPR that are not syphilis. (False-negative treponemal tests are rare; case reports have described atypical serologic responses to syphilis in some patients living with HIV).

Acute (<6 months):

 • Spirochete Infections

 • Acute Infections

 • Immunizations

Chronic (>6 months):

 • Chronic Infection

 • Autoimmune Disorders

 • Other Conditions
