Wide Complex Tachycardia - ECG Definition and Causes
• Wide Complex Tachycardia (WCT) is a cardiac rhythm with a rate > 100 bpm and QRS width ≥ 0.12 sec
• Aka Wide QRS tachycardia or WQRST
Causes:
• Ventricular Tachycardia (VT) (~80%)
• Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
- with aberrancy in the His-Purkinje system (~15-20%)
- with anterograde accessory pathway conduction (~1-6%)
- with fixed BBB or bizarre baseline QRS
- in presence of drug effect or electrolyte imbalance
• Ventricular pacing
• Electrocardiogram artifact
